Master  1390    Ferndale, MI |  Subject: 2013 RAWK SQUAD Unofficial Triathlon - Island LakeI know it's been cold and it's hard to think about swimming outdoors right now, but it's time to start talking about the 2013 edition of the BT RAWK SQUAD's Unofficial Triathlon at Island Lake. Because it's been so cold, I think later in May is better. I'm proposing the following:
DETAILS: Unofficial, unsanctioned, semi-organized triathlon. You can swim, bike and run as much or as little as you want. The "course" will be detailed out for you prior to the start. The swim will be in the Spring Mill Pond. The bike will be on the main road through the Island Lake Recreation Area. And the run is an out-and-back that will take you out of the Spring Mill Pond parking area and along the main road. Maps will be posted later on. There are no awards, no race numbers, and no time keepers. It is just a semi-organized training day where we can all get together to kick off the new triathlon season. And after, we eat! Family and friends are welcome to watch or participate. Let me know your thoughts and if we can agree on a date, we can start a list for food to pass. |

It'll be a nice practice race one week before the spring Island Lake tri. I'll watch for the food list to start and add a contribution. Looking forward to it! |

You don't have to swim, but it is a good opportunity to do a group swim. If you've not done a tri yet, let us know and we can swim close and knock you around :D

Just out of curiosity, how long is the swim when done in a triangle like that? Also, I just bought a new bike and will definitely need the practice... so if I can come you'll need to be gentle with me. One last thing -- what's a RAWK? |

We will take it easy on ANYONE that comes out. Remember, you're in the park so you can do your own thang....but you'll have a bunch of support doing it! I don't remember the yardage of the triangle in SMP...maybe someone else will chime in. |

With half of my scheduled triathlons in 2013 being between June 17 - June 23rd, I need to get in the water ASAP... feeling lost with my swim lately.
