I'll be watching later in the day.  High of 65 in DC, means I need to get some miles in.

I wonder how Cancellara will do since he's crashed a couple of times this week.
Would have been fun to watch him and Boonen duke it out.
It's been a tough Spring.

I thought you were racing Jeff Cup?

I'd like to save PR for Tue trainer ride but no way I'll be able to stay away from every bike source to not know who won so I'll be working on a class project and watching tomorrow night.

I've ridden on Pavets in Vienna. They were much smoother than the stuff they're riding over right now.

On Wednesday or so, I'll post the thought that went through my head at the end of that race. Bottom line, I lost a little confidence in the PED testing program today.

Dude! Spoilers! There were a number of people who were recording it to watch later.

But since you spoiled it.

How is it that everyone else was just baked, breathing like their lungs were going to pop and up rides Spartacus looking like he's riding downhill on a nice paved road.

Whenever I've seen that in the past, it has been because the guy was doping.

Anyone wanna defend him?

Oh no, he was hurting BAD. That took some serious guts to get that win.

I've seen the post-ride collapse footage and pictures. But nobody had a look on their face as calm as he did. And nobody had any juice left in their legs but somehow he definitely did. He answered every attack and then when the other guy said he couldn't take a turn at the front, he picked up the pace on him.

I just think it looks suspicious in light of the eventual doping results whenever someone has dominated in recent memory.

So, if someone is really good at something, then automatically they are doping?! Crazy... Cancellara has been riding like this for many, many years, the guy is simply a monster. Combine a very high FTP with a monster of an engine and you win the Spring Classics and TT's. I don't think his peak power is super high though, he's definitely not a sprinter.

The signs that he was hurting was pretty clear... he pushed on Pavee de Labre, but couldn't generate a gap. With good legs, Cancellara can pretty much drop anyone on these stretches. Then the attack at 4km and again he shut down before he had generated a gap. Not to take anything away from Vanmarcke, he had a GREAT race, especially considering that he's only 24. The Spring Classics are usually "an old mans game".

Vanmarcke took second with panache. Took his pulls even in the last kilometer. That was awesome to watch.

To me, that was the most impressive ride of the race. Vanmarcke is only 24, and Paris-Roubaix requires experience and a "motor" that takes years to build. The other rider that really impressed me was Zdeneck Stybar... Granted multiple world champion in Cyclocross (and it showed, he had some near misses that would put most other riders on the ground), but cyclocross racers rarely has the endurance needed for these type of races (simply because cyclecross is shorter, albeit super intense)
