Sunny
Total Time = 1h 05m 10s
Overall Rank = 15/39
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/6
Pre-race routine:

I got to the race site at around 7. It was really cold (it warmed up as the day went on), so I tried to stay warm and get my transition area set up. There was no swim, so it was weird setting up without any swim gear involved. I had plenty of time to get everything ready.
Event warmup:

I ran for a little while, nothing too intense.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 500 meters
  • / 100 meters
Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 41m 11s
  • 13 miles
  • 18.94 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt like this was a really good bike. I passed a lot of people, which tells me that I started too far back. I don't think it really hurt me much, though. I tried to hammer the hills and really just keep a steady, strong pace throughout. Oh, and before I forget, two a-holes were drafting throughout the entire bike course.
What would you do differently?:

I *maybe* could've gone a little harder, but I'm not 100% sure. Overall, I'm happy.
Transition 2
  • 00m 42s
Comments:

Pretty uneventful, did well enough.
What would you do differently?:

Not a whole lot; I'm pretty happy.
Run
  • 23m 18s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

The first mile was tough; my feet were numb, and my legs were tired. But I pushed through and it got easier after that. I tried to push hard throughout, and really felt like I started to get my legs under me after a couple miles. I'm happy with my pace.
What would you do differently?:

I was pretty much running alone for the last 1/2 mile or so; if there was competition around I probably could've gone a little harder.
Post race
Warm down:

I ate pretty much everything I could get my hands on! Then we sat around for a bit. I got a massage, which really felt like it made a difference by loosening my legs up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not much. Tapering of any kind would've helped, I bet! I did run 7 1/2 miles the day before :)

Event comments:

I really loved the race: the course is unique, and the park is a great setting for a race. I really hope they can manage to keep it going!

Yeah, it was just the cold. I haven't invested in those shoe covers; I hate the idea of spending money on something I'll only use for a few months a year. They warmed up after awhile on the run.
