Did you know your kids aren't yours?

Every single one of those MSNBC "Lean Forward" commercials is a borderline socialist/communist advertisement.  And I'm not exaggerating for effect.

There's one with Chris Matthews or Lawrence O'Donnell (don't recall which) that comes out and says that the only way we'll survive is for government to take care of us (almost verbatim)

People make fun of Fox News for being biased.  They are NO WHERE NEAR as biased as MSNBC. Hell some of their commercials even blame the GOP outright.  So much for "news"...

Sadly, you and I both know the answer to that question.

Rick Santorum wrote an excellent book that deals with the issues of our responsibility toward the most vulnerable in our society, including children.  It's called It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good.  I recommend it to everyone, especially to liberal progressives.  What he lays out ought to be included in any serious debate and discussion about how to care for the poor and marginalized.

They are right. Increasing viewership from 100 to 200 is still a 100% gain. Even so they are still broadcasting in a vacuum.

Yet some familiar BT names SHOUTED at the TOP of their lings that 'Mittens' didn't mean anything negative about his (secretly recorded) "47%" comment. 

I CAN NOT WAIT til midterm elections.  RIP GOP! 

So what is she saying?

She saying that It Takes A Village akin to what Hillary Clinton wrote 20 years ago.  It's a grand idea - if everyone cares about all of the kids then all of the kids will do better.  However, the problem is when the village believes that it collectively knows better then the individuals and insists on imprinting its will on the individuals.  IMHO, its no better whether the liberals or the conservatives are controlling the village. 

She's saying that if YOUR kid is kicking the crap kicked out of him in MY yard-then I'm gonna help YOUR kid out.  Even if I don't share your political views.

It really does Take a Village to Raise a Child.  (Thanks, Hillary)

Kind of like how everyone takes care of a public restrooms. 

Nonsense.

If I were to give them the benefit of the doubt, it's probably an extreme spinoff of "It takes a village to raise a child".  I get what that's SUPPOSED to mean (at least to me).  We have teachers, and day camp counselors, and pastors and doctors that all help "raise" a child.

I also get what the whole "these are our children" line.  As in we need to protect "our" children from violence (even if we don't have children of our own).  I will vote on a law that will protect "our" children or help "our" children get a better education, even if I don't have a child of my own.

But people/groups say extreme things like this, but call them out, and they downplay them to the more subtle nuances I mentioned above.  But don't dare to tell me my kids don't "belong" to me.  Of course, then you will get the whole "no one "belongs" to anyone" and blah blah blah.

I generally dismiss rhetoric like this.

There's a great Arj Barker joke about doing his civic duty to help out by peeing the $hit off the toilets when he's taking a leak. I feel it's very appropriate for this topic.
