Is anyone on here doing this race? Is the bike course fairly flat?

This will be my second crack at the Olympic distance.

I did the sprint last year, and the bike course was fairly flat.  The hills were pretty minimal, an onramp to the 202, a slight uphill on Curry, I think it was.

I did that last year and yes, it was relatively flat with just a "hill" up and over the 101 and a couple other small ones.  It's a fun race.

The run has that little nasty hill right before the finish line by the theater, but you're so glad to be almost done, you just power up it, turn 2 corners, and motor towards the finish line.

I will be racing the sprint, on a team alongside and supporting a challenged youth athlete with My Team Triumph (MTT).  First time doing the Tempe Int'l course and racing with a MTT "angel" - totally looking forward to it!!!

Make sure you cheer on our MTT angels as you see them on the course!!

I was originally planning on the doing the tempe internation olympic, but after doing marquee last weekend, im not sure.  I don't deal well with the heat (i know that i live in arizona, haha) and i was really worried about overheating during the run at marquee.  I'd be afraid of doing it again mid-may when it will be hotter.  Maybe i'll just do the sprint?

jdl2012 - 2013-04-21 6:09 PM Suffer like the rest of us... Just make sure you drink lots of fluids.  Actually, since it is in the morning, I don't think it will be that bad.

I probably will end up suffering with the rest of you.  I'll maybe trick myself into thinking its a good idea.  haha.

Tempe International was my first triathlon ever last year, and I did the sprint distance and loved it.  I was going to do the olympic this year, but after minimal training the last few weeks due to being sick, and a horrible outing at the Rocky Point Tri last Saturday (I still finished lol) I think I'm going to just do the sprint.

My parents are coming out from Chicago for a week, and they're going to cheer me on, so I was hoping to do a longer distance, but I just don't see it happening.

On a side note, I don't know anyone else doing this race so if anybody wants to get together to train beforehand let me know, I need as much as possible!

I'm hoping to make this my comeback race...Missed Marquee/Leadman due to an extreme case of PF. Also, opted out of Boise 70.3...Super bummed, but I guess this is how it goes. Planned on doing the OLY, but I think I will just hobble through the sprint and perhaps do the OLY at Deuces Wild 3 weeks later. Still hoping to be better for Mountain Man 70.3 in August, but my heel throbs just thinking about it.
