Overcast
Total Time = 1h 03m 20s
Overall Rank = 2/97
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 1/12
Pre-race routine:

oatmeal, 2 eggs, juice, quart of water
Event warmup:

300 yds in the pool. light spin around the course on the bike.
Swim
  • 06m 40s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

started off strong. faded at little bit at around 350 yds. out of the water at 6:04 on the watch.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m 31s
Comments:

good transition. the guy next to me was really messy and had his stuff spread all over my spot and the "alley" so that was kind of annoying. A quick sweep of the foot got rid of that problem. :)
What would you do differently?:

should have maybe put on arm warmers. might have been worth the 10s or so.
Bike
  • 34m 44s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Windy with gusts on some laps. tight downhill corners. Felt strong out of transition but the wind/cold really sapped the leg strength by the third lap. seems like my splits were just a little slower each lap.
What would you do differently?:

need to carry a better line through the corners and push a little harder on the hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m 33s
Comments:

T2 was good.
What would you do differently?:

concentrate on getting feet out of shoes better. Caught my drive side shoes on the spin and almost lost one.
Run
  • 20m 51s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

legs felt horrible out of transition for the first 3/4 mile. Was at least able to Neg split the run and keep the pressure on as much as I could.
What would you do differently?:

dig a little deeper when the first place guy started to open up his lead. I should have been able to run with him.
Post race
Warm down:

walk around the quad a couple times. light stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

cold, wind, and mental.

Event comments:

Always a fun local sprint for early in the year.
