Subject: Sleeveless wetsuit w/ arm sleeves?

I've read lots of threads about sleeved vs. sleeveless wetsuits... after doing a HIM in a sleeved, I want a sleeveless if I go for the full IM... mainly b/c of wear on my shoulders.  Has anyone ever tried a sleeveless wetsuit w/ arm sleeves?

arm sleeves

thoughts?

how often are you doing swims with the wetsuit? I know that I found my wetsuit restrictive in the shoulder area at first but as time progressed I didnt even notice it. If you already had a sleeveless wet suit I think those sleeves could work but it seems that you already have a full wet suit. - I would just swim more with the full sleeve and get used to it.

A lot of the perceived shoulder restrictions with a full wetsuit are the result of either not putting the wetsuit on properly or having an ill-fitting wetsuit.

Search for some Youtube videos about properly putting on a wetsuit.  It might be an "A-ha" moment.

I have the Quenterra Roo arm sleeves.  One thing to look out for is sizing.   I got a pair of XL's as they fit my biceps perfectly, but, the openeing at the wrist ended up being a hair too big and water would fill up the sleeves.   I found a cheap and easy remedy of using my duaghters hair bands around my wrist that she uses for ponytails.

Guess my wife saw me with pink bands around my wrists as she bought me a full sleeve wetsuit about 1/2 a year ago though......

Thanks for the replies.  I understand the "break it in" concept, but I live in TX and dont get a lot of opportunities to swim in a wetsuit... so I sold my sleeved one.  Also, I doubt my biceps will be an issue since I've never lifted weights... ha.  Basically, since the race I'm looking at doing is up north, I'm willing to pay for the sleeves if they will work.  Just wondering if anyone has tried it or has any other thoughts.

Any other input is appreciated.

I used a sleeveless wetsuit plus arm sleeves once.

I borrowed everything from a gal a little taller and little wider than me, so it's probably a good thing it was not a full sleeved suit, as it likely would not have fit me properly through the shoulders.

I was worried about the exposed skin between the sleeves and the suit getting cold, but even though the water temp was 1° above where they were going to make it wetsuit mandatory (i.e., really freaking cold), I didn't notice it after three or four strokes.
