From the BAA web site:

For the 2014 Boston Marathon, qualifying times must be run on or after September 22, 2012

First: that woman is a total BA for running 3:16!!  Dang.

Second: just to be clear, Boston has a new registration policy as of the 2012 race.  I believe it is a permanent change.  The first two days, the race is only open to those who qualify by 20 minutes or more.  The next period (also 2 days?) is open to those who qualify with a 10 minute cushion.  The third period is for those with a 5 minute cushion.  This is all who may register the first week.  The second week, those who have any BQ may register.  They order everyone the second week based on your BQ cushion and those who beat their time by the most get in first until capacity is reached.

Third: based on the interest this race has already, I'm thinking it will sell out faster than before, but it will by no means be a mad dash to the computer.  I'm hoping my BQ-2:49 is enough, because I really want to show my support to those affected on Monday by racing.

rjrankin83 - 2013-04-17 8:50 PMAgree you'd be a total BA if you BQ'd your run split of an IM. I'm hoping to go sub 3:05 next year to qualify and hope to go sub 4 on my run at IMFL
If you can get to a 3:05 open time, your IM run should be well under 4:00. If properly trained for IM your ru. Should be in the 3:35-3:40 range (with proper bike pacing, which most people don't do!). On the Boston qualifying issue, my coach has qualified for Boston at Kona the last few years (3rd and 5th in his AG at Kona the past two years).

I haven't gotten to a 3:05 open time yet (at 3:20 but down 30 minutes from my first marathon). Hoping to BQ next year after my first IM. That being said a 4 hour run leg is a conservative guess but it's my first so who knows.
