One for the ladies... what GPS HR watch to get

I have a very tiny wrist but love my Garmin 910.  Yes, it's a big watch face but it fits just as well as something with a face half the size.  The holes in the strap go up the entire strap so tightening it down is no issue.

I like the fact that it's sporty looking and not ultra feminine looking.  I imagine many other sporty girls would feel similarly 

Has she said a "huge" watch won't due for her, or are you just guessing that?

A watch is a pretty personal gift, and I know you're her DAD and all, but sometimes, just sometimes, my Mom or Dad pick out something for me that I wouldn't necessarily pick out for myself, and sometimes even I pick out the "wrong" stuff for my own kids;)

Maybe you could tell her you'd like to get her a watch and then include her in the decision?

I have an everyday watch that I wear when I'm not training, but I love my 910xt, and I can't imagine a better IM training gift.  The swim and tri modes and data are killer.  It is huge, but the data is so valuable, and you can see 4 screens at once.  More data = better.

I am also a petite lady - 5'3" and you would have to pry my 310 out of my hands!! The battery life is excellent for the whole iron distance (it still had juice in it when i finished in 13:19) - waterproof so it can be worn on the swim. And with the quick release kits it can be used in a variety of ways - on the bike, in the swim cap, on the wrist ... I would of course love the 910 for swimming indoors but can't justify replacing the perfectly good 310 I already have ...

It's big but i haven't found it to be a hassle and it's more compact than previous versions (had the 305 and similarly LOVED it). 

She had  my Timex Global trainer a few times and its just to big for her

I'm another small lady who loves her Garmin 910xt.  I thought it would be big, bulky, and uncomfortable....but when my husband bought his, I borrowed it and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't bother me at all. 

It sure is nice to have information for swimming, biking, and running all on one computer, so if she's planning to stick with triathlons for more than just one IM, I'd suggest at least considering it.

This. (Well, except for the IM part, which I don't do. And I have the 205. BUt you know, same idea... :D)

Well, the 910xt is the top of the line watch, and the only real three sport capable.  can time laps for swim training, pick up an ANT+ powermeter for cycling, and fully run capable.  it's not small, but it's low profile and really functional. 

Personally- I like a dedicated cycling computer on my bike, as I cannot see my wrist when riding, and don't like fiddling with taking the watch off and putting on my bike on race day.

for size/style- the Garmin 210 is probably the best.  I couldn't live with one because I'm a data geek and need programmable fields, but it could be fine for your daughter.  But- it's pretty much just a run watch.

I totally agree with this!.  I dont like girly-looking stuff/gear either but was apprehensive in buying the 910 because of its size.  Im a skinny gal too yet barlely feel it on my wrist.  My husband teases me that I swim, bike, and run lopsided. haha!   But I LOVE it!! 910 does everything!    btw, youre an awesome dad to think of giving a gift like this!
