Speaking of the media..

I haven't followed them all real closely, but yeah there seems to be quite a bit of this going on lately.

I spent quite a bit of time this morning reading about the two "bombers" with backpacks and pictures, and now I just read that one of them is a 17 year old kid who is scared to death and trying to clear his name.

Page not found. Is that the same as a retraction?

lol, I do believe it's more of a "what story" approach.

At least it was 100% factual.

We now have the local (Cleveland, OH) media relaying the license plate numbers of the suspect vehicle...   I'm just wondering who it is in the viewing area that they think will see this vehicle 600+ miles away.

They should strike the term "News" and insert "shameful speculation".

I think it would be representative of what they do.

I can hear it now,,,,,,,,,, Breaking Shameful Speculation.

Turned on the radio and heard the news describing what they knew of the younger of the two brothers.  They said he went to college, had friends, and once drove in reverse down a one-way street.  If there was more to the driving story, they did not share it.

Maybe I'm getting myself worked up more and more, but I'm looking for all the speculation and poor reporting and it just gets angry.  I might have even yelled at the TV a couple times at their idiocy.

I find Susan Candiotti particularly annoying.  She has the typical fake "serious news reporter voice" when reporting the facts speculation.

One of her insightful lines delivered in her most serious and informative news voices?  "the authorities are using facial features to identify the suspects".  REALLY??????

I know the traditional media used to complain and minimize non traditional interwebz style media, but it seems like they're doing the same things they used to complain about to avoid being scooped by some 15 year old blogging in his boxer shorts.  Somebody heard somebody who overheard a guy saying something... "Breaking News"....

To ME, their speculation is getting so out of hand, it reminds me/sounds like some of the conspiracy theory fruitcakes.

Pierce Morgan was commenting on the "new" photo last night and they zoomed in and focused on some brown shoes/loafers on the ground and asked the guy who took the pictures if he thought those shoes could possibly be the shoes of the bomber.

O M G......

That's the stuff that has me yelling at the TV in frustration.

Then again, we could have the alternative.  30 years ago in the Soviet Union we'd have TASS.  No conflicts.  No speculation.  What you see is all there is to see.

That's the trouble with news competition.  We'll get each trying to out-do each other...along with wild conspiracy theories, etc.  Even with all the nonsense I still prefer the latter to the former.

At least his car was facing the right direction.  When I lived in Boston, I'd sometimes just drive the wrong way down one-ways.  I do the same in Chicago.  One time when I lived in Dorchester, I double-parked.  If I'm ever "wanted" I'm screwed..

I was JUST ranting about how Susan Candiati is one of the reporters I ldetest (in this or another thread) for her poor journalism (IMO) and her "I'm putting my serious TV voice on now and talk from my arse and speculate but I'm saying it SO seriously, so it must me true".

Crazy it was her that did this.  (or not so crazy?)

Yeah, it did.  By the time I figured out what was going on, it already rebounded.  I could have made a quick $2k if I would have just pulled the trigger.  lol  (all my positions are short)
