Subject: Rear hydration system

Hello - going long this year but on a budget

Currently using a Profile design hydration system on between the tri bars and only have one bottle holder on the frame

Does anyone use the 'mini wing kit' from x-lab or something similar? Any suggestions

Your input(s) would  be greatly appreciated

Thank you and happy training

JT

I have a bontrager rear double bottle holder. Used it for the first time last week and it fell to pieces whilst riding! I think it is salvageable but I don't think I would recommend it .

I have the X-lab system and LOVE it. I have the CF version, but it is a very nice system.

You can also add fittings for co2 and all kinds of other things, but I just put all that stuff in a water bottle with my spare, tools etc.

Well dang...I didnt see the mini part in your post. I guess this wont help much then.

I can say they make great stuff, so I would imagine that the mini version is great also!!

I have the X-lab sonic mounted on my Cervelo P3 with two bottle holders plus the profile design in between my aerobars. I have used this configuration for half and full IM , carrying one or two bottles on the X-lab with concentrated solutions that I mix with the water I carry on the profile design. Every 30 to 40 km I grab a bottle of water from the stations and pour half of it into the Profile Design and then I pour my concentrated fuel to top it up.

The only problem I have with the bottles mounted on the X-lab is that when they are empty they sometimes fell off. This only happens when the roads are bumpy, but I solved this issue by fastening the bottle to the bottle holder with a rubber band. I also find it easier to reach a bottle behind the saddle than on the frame, where you have to stop pedaling for some seconds.

Hope this helps.

I always wanted to try one.  I am having trouble getting large bottles in my bottle cages under my frame.  This might be a good option for me.

It was the easiest thing to install - I had more trouble installing a kick stand on a kiddy bike

Will try the system tomorrow

The purchase was successful

Would recommend it to anyone looking for something that mounts close to your saddle

Using one side of for a bottle with tool kit, tube, and CO2 cartridge / inflator; taping pump on frame

Tri-Boutique has them and fast shipping

Happy Training

Thank you

I considered that model with all options but on a budget - was either more races (including Muskoka 70.3 IM) or an hydration kit

Thanks for the reply

Happy Training but Be Safe
