Subject: Pain at site of healed stress fracture

I've had 2 tibial stress fractures in my right leg and one in my left leg.  One of the ways I've always been able to tell that I have a stress fracture is that there is a hot spot on the bone when pushing on it in addition to pain when running or walking.  However, today I noticed that the site of a healed fracture hurt a bit (feels like a bruise), so I pushed in the area.  There's a bit of a hot spot - less pain and bigger area - near the site of each old fracture on both legs.

Is this normal? Is it a warning sign to back off before it turns into a fracture? It doesn't hurt when I'm walking or running.  I tried the jump test on both legs and didn't have any pain.  I'm just worried and would like to avoid going through the stress fracture healing again.

If you know your prodrom and this seems to be following it as described I would not run til you get it checked out.  IF xrays/scans and negative be sure to get back on your PT program and the usual stuff of shoes not worn out etc.  I would also suggest a long leg air cast

That's what I was thinking...and worried about.  Thanks for your advice.
