Just got an email about the Brooklyn Triathlon that will be taking place in NOVEMBER (Olympic and Sprint) Anyone considering doing this? I'm thinking November...in NY.....in the Atlantic Ocean ......seems kinda cold. It's the first year they are having it. Any thoughts? I'm thinking it could be fun.

I'm really excited that there's finally a triathlon in Brooklyn/Coney island. We've needed one for a while.

Racing in November? Not as exciting. The water at Coney Island is never what you'd call "warm" even in the summer. It's not for nothing that the Polar Bear Club has that beach as their home base.

Not to mention that getting out of that water and onto a bike soaking wet in November sounds like not good times.

Maybe it'll get moved next year. Hope so. Great venue.

Did i read that correctly ?? 200.00 for a sprint ?? i think i will pass, thanks !!! would have jumped in if it was the normal 85 - 100 price range but i think that is a bit much for a sprint ...

November in New York could be 30F or 55F, cant really tell but the water will no doubt be absolutely freezing. They obviously didn't think this though, and the prices are crazy. I would love to see this happen in September for example.

Wetsuit mandatory as well, hoping it gets moved to an earlier date in 2014, I would really like to do it, but the $200 on top of having to rent or buy a wetsuit is to steep for me this year.

Are they anticipating climate change? That will be freezing!

i thought about it VERY briefly. i didnt even look into it because of the timing and cost. hopefully it was a successful event. however as others have mentioned, the water is cold, but its also pretty choppy as the winds whip up around here this time of year. the course looked kind of boring... 4 laps of the same city blocks for the bike ride? no thanks. also its really expensive. sure in NY everything costs more but i sat it out and will see if things are more sensible next year.

i hope anyone that did the race enjoyed it and that it was successful.
