Wait...I spent how long working out and counting calories to lose every shred of body fat possible for this race? You're all lucky I'm keeping the naked in the transition area...

At IMLP, they have separate, closed tents. Also, only respective sexes are allowed to volunteer for said tents. So you wouldn't have any guys in a tent with you at all. So, I think it will basically like being at the Y, only with about 1,000 more people. Not sure how it is at your race, though.

And kudos to the poster who said life is too short to worry about people seeing you naked. :D

At IMNZ there wasn't even a bit of tent or cloth screen up in front of the change tents ... completely open on both ends and anybody could see in!

Nobody cared. Nobody's watching you. If it makes you feel better to wear a towel, go ahead, but believe me, everybody is so focused on their own race you could probably do the hula naked in there and no one would notice. The volunteers are so focused on doing their jobs and getting everyone in and out of there quickly with all their gear with them or back in the bag.

The spectators are so busy looking for "their" participant/s and cheering people on that they're not looking in the tent either (although most IMs they can't see in).

A lot of the European IMs don't even have separate M/F change tents.

Yup, that was me!  I was actually trying to squeeze into my tri suit but I'm sure it looked like I was doing the hula naked.

The funniest part of T2 for me was finding out my Vaseline has melted in the heat of the day and being unable to 'grab a handful' to lube up.

I'm starting to worry about my wife becoming to much of a triathlete.  Yesterday she threw her shirt in the laundry and walked outside to the up stair in just her bra (and pants) without a problem.

I had a friend drive to a park to run.  She got out and, thinking she had on her sports bra, took off her sweater and threw it in the car.  Then realized she had on a pink lacey bra as she is standing there in the parking lot.

Yep, I have actually done the swim with my trishorts and sports bra and then just put on my top in plain view.....sports bras are not really normal bras......

I am now much more relaxed about it...

A year ago, I would not have dared

I also did IMNZ and didnt even notice that it was kind of open.. that's not my recollection at all as you are just so focused on getting in and out as fast as you can and there are all the wonderful volunteers there to help you.  It felt very private.  I dont like to "expose" myself at all as despite losing 25kg and IM training I still have wobbly bits that I am not proud of.  But the thing I remember is that no-one knows me in the tent (and probably not anyone who can see me) and they are never going to see me again and I need every minute of the time available so want the fastest transition I can.  Would definitely recommend Tri shorts you simply do not even know they are wet and ditto the other suggestion of wearing your sports bra.  Have an awesome IM.

This would not happen in America.  He would have been arrested on the spot.  Could you imagine?

I say this as an American.  We are a little up tight about nudity here.  Nudity is very unnatural.

On the changing tents.   My first IM I really did not know what to expect in the changing tent between swim and bike.  I came in at the worst time, I have been told, which is at the 1:08 mark or a few minutes either side.   Came in the tent and there was no room anywhere.   It was completely crazy.  I thought I was still in the tent but apparently I was not completely.  Stripped down and there was a women right next to me that I did not realize.  Anyway she laughed and shared that she was a nurse and no problem.

The rules are no nudity outside the tent and could have been in a bit of trouble.   So as others have shared there is no privacy.  Also it is crazy on swim to bike.   Other transitions are far more low key.  Plus they give you a helper with the other transitions which is very interesting.   I am male and my helpers have always been male.  Assume they are always same sex

I have worked the womens' change tent at IMFL twice now....and yeah...zero privacy...naked women everywhere.  No guys present...just ladies.  Same goes for the mens tent obviously.  But within your respective tents there isn't anywhere to hide.  And they are right...no one is really looking.  Everyone is just so darn busy trying to change and get out.

I saw one person make a volunteer hold up a towel so she could change behind it...seemed awfully silly to me, but I guess some folks are just that uptight.  Me?  I walk around locker rooms naked all the time.  Don't really care who sees me.  I only did a full change in my most recent Ironman, but even if I'd done it in earlier ones it wouldn't have bothered me.

Oh, you mention pre-lubing the shorts?  Not really necessary.  Most of the women I've seen just put some lube on their hand and shove said hand down their shorts...right in front of the whole tent....not kidding...I've even done that in a HIM transition area before. :D

Just PLEASE...do NOT sit your naked butt down on the chairs...that is just gross.  Bring a towel to sit on or don't sit until you have your shorts on...

You could buy, or make, a "malong" (Philippine tube dress.) One of it's uses is you wrap it around you in a way that allows you to change your clothes underneath without exposing yourself. It's just a big cloth tube. You can step into it and tie it at one shoulder and you basically have your own little private changing area.

You could get one of these silly things that I saw at a recent tri expo -- http://www.chawel.comBut especially if there are separate mens and womens tents, who cares?  Isn't it just like a locker room?  At least most people will be changing in somewhat of a hurry, and there shouldn't be the crowd that likes to spend endless minutes grooming, shaving, and slathering on lotion while naked that you sometimes see at the gym...

I'm consistently surprised by the number of people who are so bashful about nudity in the locker room, though. I see women changing under towels and in bathroom stalls every time I go to the pool. You're meant to be naked in a changing space!

Although I will say that growing up as a swimmer, I've changed clothes in more cars, parking lots, pool decks, etc. than is probably reasonable, so my perspective on a little light nudity is probably skewed.

They don't have facilities for a Tri, but maybe you can convince them to host a Du.

This will make the transition tent easier.
