Pre-race routine:

Drove to Pittsburgh from Washington, PA on the morning of the race. Met Jimmy and talked a bit before the race.
Run
  • 4h 50m 36s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a slow run for me, but I wanted to keep a slow pace to save as much energy as possible. Pittsburgh isn't exactly flat. I ran with Jimmy until mile 11 then we parted ways. My lower back kept going out on me starting at mile 12 or so. It would literally lock up and I would be up on my toes until it released. It was a bizarre feeling.

Post race
Warm down:

Waited for Jimmy to finish and then headed back to Washington, PA to shower before driving back to Columbus.

Good job on completing the marathon!

I looked up the Pittsburgh Marathon for this year.  Does it normally sell out?  thx

Not to jump in but when I did it in '09, I don't think it sold out at all.  My wife and I actually looked at doing it this year after I had a sub-par Shamrock in March, but we were surprised to learn that it was sold out.
