Subject: RE: NSAIDS I was looking into this a few years ago getting ready for my first 50-miler, and I think you can find articles to avoid taking NSAIDS if you are doing endurance sports.
From what I recall (and I don't have specific links to back this up ),
Acetaminophen (Tylenol ) is hard on the liver.
Ibuprofen (Advil ) is hard on the kidneys.
I don't recall the specifics for Sodium Naproxin (Aleve ).
You're already taxing both your liver and kidneys during an ultra, so why risk it? You may find articles that one or the other NSAID is "safer" for your liver/kidneys than the other, but "safer" doesn't mean "safe" (so read the articles with a skeptical mind ). |
