Please school me on the risks of taking Aleve or similar meds during an ultra. I have read and heard of potential kidney issues with taking them and being dehydrated. Any advice would be great. Have my first 50 miler coming up in September.

I personally wouldn't take them. I have heard the same associated risks with them, and I am sure others might disagree. The majority of the trail runners I run with wouldn't use them unless absolutely necessary, and no more than 1-2. They do have them at the aid stations at the races I have been in, but they tell you the risks with them. Good luck!!

They're filtered by the kidneys.  So if you have no physical problems, take as directed and stay well hydrated, you shouldn't have problems with them.

I have used them many times at the end of a race, but never throughout the entire race.

Here is a good read for you with a decent discussion.

Every ultra-runner I know uses them, and regularly.

The RD of Angeles Crest 100 who has completed Catalina 50 over 30 times now is the biggest proponent of them I have ever met saying something like "take two every 3 hours during strenuous exercise". He is eighty something and was in high spirits when I saw him this past January about 20 miles out from yet another Catalina 50 finish.

I was looking into this a few years ago getting ready for my first 50-miler, and I think you can find articles to avoid taking NSAIDS if you are doing endurance sports.

From what I recall (and I don't have specific links to back this up),

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is hard on the liver.
Ibuprofen (Advil) is hard on the kidneys.

I don't recall the specifics for Sodium Naproxin (Aleve).

You're already taxing both your liver and kidneys during an ultra, so why risk it? You may find articles that one or the other NSAID is "safer" for your liver/kidneys than the other, but "safer" doesn't mean "safe" (so read the articles with a skeptical mind).
