Subject: RE: How Many Job Changes... Five since 1975, not including a brief stint with the Navy (medical discharge while in flight school) and a job where the company was bought out three times while I was there doing the same thing. Started out in Industrial Engineering and got promoted up through the production management ranks with three different firms. My company went through a downsizing in 1997 and they offered my a year's salary to leave. Took the buyout expecting to take a bit of a sabatical, but got an offer two weeks later from another firm just down the street. Had open heart surgery in late 2000 and it took several months to fully recover. Did a lot of soul searching during that time and decided on making a career change from engineering/production management into the financial advisory business. Several factors entered into my decision, not the least of which was the desire to stay in the Sarasota area, not just for the location, but also our involvement with Church and community. It has ended up being a good decision for a lot of reasons. Mark |
