I am dong it.  This will be my third year for this race, love all the hills.  Although I am not very fast, I still like the challenge.  I am hoping to get be under 3 hours hours this year.  Last year I did a 3:05, got stone calf during the run and just couldn't get any power.  The first year I did a 3:01, so I am hoping I can be under 3 hours this year.  I am doing more bricks to avoid the stone calf this year, however my biking still needs much, much improvement.  Are you local?

This will be my second year doing it.  Last year I totally underestimated the hills so hoping to also go under 3 this year.

Its a great course. The water is a very warm 72 according to the head life guard I talked to on Wed, and the swimmers itch is a bit tough at the moment, but no worries, wont make a difference come race day. Have been posting some fast times on the bike course lately, looking for a top 10 AG hopefully God willing!

The water temperature is 78 degrees or lower for wet suits cut-off

.  Many people wear wet suits and some don't.  I wear one.  It makes me more comfortable in the water and I have never gotten to itch from the water.

I wish I could same the same for fast bike course times.  I really am slow on the bike.  I just got fitted for my bike at Two Wheels this week.  My bike training has been minimal and have only done the bike course once this training.  Yet, I have still hopeful to have a top 10 AG finish too.   Good Luck on your top 10.

I posted a 1:07:21 on the bike course this morning.  That's with a couple of stalls at traffic lights. But, that was a stand alone and I was hammering, won't be that fast come race day or I'll never finish the run lol!  But I do love this bike course, it is lots of fun and several sections are very fast.

Dang Gil - that's fast!  You rock!  I am hoping to get in the low 1:30's or high 1:20's.  I love this course too.  My favorite is after you get over the last hill on the outbound.  That is where I feel fast, like a real cylcist, then you have the return and I am humbled and put back in my place again...  The run is a kicker.  I'll be the one crawling up Vista Del Lago.

The organizers are buddies with the artist and I don't think they will ever stray away from the artist work.  Sad, because it is such a great race, and it is the only race shirt I won't wear.

I wouldn't worry about it.  I have never even noticed.  Besides your sweat will probably give you a good rinse anyway.  Just do it and have fun!

This will be my third time in the race.  I have also done practice swims before each race.  I have never had a problem with the swimmer's itch and the people that I've talked to that have reported only a few red dots and no discomfort.

I've been told that sunscreen with zinc will somewhat minimize the penetration of the little critters.  A shower after the swim is best, but . . . not practical in T1.

I love riding that canyon!  I know every crack and bump!

I had a horrible experience in the lake last year.  Wetsuit was just too tight and I lost all my air and had to breast stroke for a while to get my heart rate down.  Put a damper on the rest of my day.  Proper-sized wetsuit seems to have solved that problem.

Vista del Lago . . . ugghhh!

Good luck to everyone!

My friend lives in that neighborhood and she couldn't believe we run up Vista del Lago.

I had to admit that it was more of a "running motion" than actual running . . . .Embarassed

Are any of you doing the Orangeman 70.3?

I'd like to.  Just waiting for the confirmed race date from RD and registration to open.  I raced it last year as my first long course triathlon and boy did I love every bit of it!  =D

I raced this with you last year and my pit stop at T2 cost me the time I needed to catch up,  hehe!  I will not be racing this year though due to buying a new house and lack of training time.  Good luck to you and everyone racing this weekend!   Panda_Jack, you better beat that 3 hour mark!  =D
