Run
Comments: Felt good. Looked at my watch several times to see my speed and was going right around 7:10-7:30/miles, which was good. I didn't want to burn out. I found a guy (52 according to his calf!) that was running at same pace, so it was easier to just run right behind him the whole way. Passed him at the very end because he had slowed down too much. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Bike
Comments: First time with aero bars for a race. I think it really helped. Kept my pace around 20mph. Some sections I dipped into the low 18's, and had to tell myself to keep it strong, but not so strong that I kill my legs for the next run. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Felt good the first mile. Started to suffer a little on the second mile, and made sure to pass a couple of people. I tried catching 1 guy, and probably made up about 50m out of a 100m spread. I'm not sure if he sped up the last half mile or if I slowed down, but I couldn't catch him. Post race
Warm down: Stretch. Eat pizza and water. Drink my green tea. If I don't have caffeine soon afterwards, I get a bad headache. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike and run fitness! Last updated: 2013-02-20 12:00 AM

Got up at normal 4:30am for morning workouts and rode on trainer for 30 minutes. First time having my trainer before a race. Figured I'd get a little loose and what not. Showered. Made a smoothie to take with me on the way to the race.
30 minutes on trainer at home. Stretch at home. Jogged about a mile at race site and stretched.
