I posted this in the gear forum but thought I might get a better response in the main forum, sorry for the double post:

Couple questions regarding wheel covers:

A) Has anyone tried Dyma wheel covers? I have a Specialized Transition and the wheel builder covers are not compatible with my bike. I thought I'd try Dyma unless anyone has a better suggestion or alternative (I'm also considering the DIY method).

B) Is the money or time investment in a wheel cover worth it for me? I'm closing in on Raleigh 70.3, looking to finish MOP. Not sniffing podium or Vegas. Probably 18ish mph on the bike. Is the cover worth my troubles? Thanks.

I haven't come across Dyma but I have an AeroJacket and I'm very happy with it.

Send me a PM. I manufacture my own brand of wheel covers for about 30% less with very good results. I have been training and racing with mine on my Giant and it is flawless.  I had a stock set of Shimano wheels that Wheelbuilder has on its incompatible list, made a set and they worked. Not lots of clearance with the RD, but I have trained on that rim and its works well.  Discdemon.com should be up and running in a few weeks, you can find us there.

This question, the answer is yes. Discs are the fastest rear wheel when allowed. A cover is close to the same benefits and lots cheaper. An aero helmet is an other good purchase for speed, bike fit is even better (if not dialed in).

I made my own for about $30 in materials and a few hours time. I like to tinker and enjoy building things so the time commitment wasn't a worry for me. I use 3M electrical tape around the edges and packing tape on the back of the drive side to keep it away from the RD. I train with it full time.

Decided to go the DIY route. Just placed an order for styrene.  Should keep me occupied during my taper.

Coach Gil, I'm interested in your covers. I like supporting smaller startups than larger companies. When will the site be up? Will you have any numbers posted?

I have a Transition also.  I tried the wheelbuilder cover (despite all the reports that it doesn't clear that notch in the chainstay...  I even tried the method where you tape it down to the spokes on the non drive side using tape.  It still didn't clear.  Finally I cut it radially and overlapped it, to pull it tighter in, and it STILL didn't totally clear.  I gave up and now it just collects dust.
