Pre-race routine:

Got to the race about 2hrs before the race. Only a little over an hour from home.
Event warmup:

Did a quick ride and then a run with my teammates.
Swim
  • 07m 12s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

Descent swim. Got held up a bit at the start, but things opened up pretty quickly. I mixed it up between breathing to the left and right. Only major problem was I popped out of the water only to find my Garmin 910xt not on my wrist!
What would you do differently?:

I think I could have swam a bit harder. NOT LOSE MY GARMIN!!!
Transition 1
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

Fastest overall T1
What would you do differently?:

I realized at the mount line that I had my right shoe/crank in the front and I needed my left to be up front. Made things a little awkward mounting.
Bike
  • 27m 33s
  • 10 miles
  • 21.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed it on the bike. Did have a my Garmin Edge on, but only looked at cadence during the race.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working to improve my bike and get fast up the hills
Transition 2
  • 00m 36s
Comments:

Fastest overall T2. I was the king of the transitions today! :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, T2 went beautifully
Run
  • 17m 31s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 05m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty happy with my run. Had NO IDEA on my pace at any point. I like to at least see my splits pop up on my Garmin, but it was good to go off feel.
What would you do differently?:

I think I could have pushed a touch harder
Post race
Warm down:

Did a 30 minute post race run. Felt a little too good. Made me wonder if I left something out on the course, but oh well.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The conditions were not ideal, but I'm happy with my results.

Event comments:

This was a great start to the tri season. So proud of my club, NorthEast MultiSport, as well had a great showing. We had the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th overall finishers as well as multiple AG and podium finishers.

Great race, Colin. Awesome job on those transitions - they make the difference in a sprint. I think Garmin should build a 'beacon' into the 910 so they can be found if they pop off - you definitely aren't the first person this has happened to!

You're going to do an awesome job on that Syracuse course!
