Do you get weighed at packet pickup?  I'm doing my first triathlon in July, and registered as a Clyde (as I was ~250).  I'm right around 220 now, and likely to be under (hopefully well under) when the date comes around.  Will I get bumped out to Age Group?  Not like I'm going to have any competitive advantage in either group, likely to be behind middle of pack.

I don't know the answer to your question, but if I were expecting to be under weight by race date I would email the race organizer and let them know the situation now so that they can move you ahead of time.

I've never been weighed, and haven't even seen a scale at packet pickup.  I would guess that it's more of an honor system, or that I'm so far above the 220 mark that weighing me would be a lot like a 7-11 clerk trying to card Helen Thomas as she buys a carton of smokes and a six pack of beer.

I've never been weighed. As someone already said, in my experience, it's on the honor system.

wolfador - 2013-05-14 9:08 AM I didn't get weighted for Rev3 Knoxville.

Oddly enough, I saw a scale right next to packet pickup at Rev3 Knoxville.  That was the first time I've ever seen one at a race before.

I've only been weighed for one event - Lums Pond Tri in Bear, DE, Pirhana Sports is the race org.

Usually it is on the honor system, but my guess is if you would get weighed and not qualify for Clyde they'd stick you in your AG.

IronheadRaceProductions puts ALL Clydes and Athenas on a scale at packet-pick-up.

I think this is the right thing and it should be mandatory.

Often enough did I see Clydes win that seem not to be over the weight limit. At Ironhead races I know they are.

While I understand this is a sport we do for fun, I think there is no fun in cheating, this goes for cutting the course, illegal drafting or lying about the weight.

on honor system i believe, never seen anyone get weighed and if you will not podium then i dont think it is a big deal unless you want to see where you are as compared to other age groupers. good luck

I picked it up on Friday so maybe they weren't ready yet.
