Subject: does summer fun count as cross training?

This is more of a fun question, as I was looking at my training log I realized part of why I am so tired : the only "off" days I have had in the last few weeks became family days out at motocross or desert track riding. When I was chatting with my local bike shop owner a "so what you doing this weekend ?" conversation I found out that he also rides motocross, and he quickly chimed in that it is awesome cross training!

So if you do other activities that are a workout in there own ( i.e. surf, ski, rock climbing, ect.) do you place it in an off day, add it in on top of normal training or  for you does it qualify for a cross train day?

There is a place in the BT logs for sports minutes.

Personally, I'm in off season right now and doing some cross training for fun, (Insanity Workout), but I still try to get a stock amount of S/B/R minutes in every week.

Depends on what your personal goals are.  I dont post my workouts here anymore but I still do something 6 days a week.  I only do triathlons to keep myself motivated to work out on days I dont want to.  I love to ride my bike, I enjoy swimming and I like the efficiency of a run workout which is why I continue to train for tri's.  So would I count every activity as a work out - yup.  Would I post it?  Sometimes, it would depend on the activity.  If I felt I worked up a hard sweat and felt satisfied like a Mt bike ride I would post it.  If I went for a two mile hike w/ my dogs, probably not.  But for 'most' people, a two mile hike is a work out and could be listed.

If youre trying to track all of your activity, then yes, put it down and train around it.  If you only care about s/b/r then only log what matters.  But you should take into account your extra activities as to how they could effect your performance and post it in your blog for your reference.

I swing dance occasionally and try to build my training days around those times I know it might coincide with a key workout. I do log it as "sports" minutes (it's actually a pretty intense workout) so I can keep track of how active I am, especially on my rest days. Anything that will make me sore or tired makes it into the logs.

I log in my soccer games. That's right up there with interval training for me.

I add mountain biking as biking minutes -- tons of climbing.
