You killed it out there, Tim! That's a phenomenol time on that course. Well done!

I would have worn other shoes, too, had I known half the run would be over boulders. My foot is still killing me.

Edit: Oh, and they allowed extra pizza for the HIM finishers.

Thanks, I was happy with my time. I didn't even look at the total time until I crossed the line...quite the surprise when I was gunning for sub 2:20 and went sub 2:15!

extra pizza

we didn't have pizza as an option! I asked if I could take more than 1 of the mini muffins and I got shot down!

That explains why it was still warm when I got mine a few hours after you were already warm and dry.

My club dragged the BBQ and tons of food up there. People doing the sprint and Oly were put in charge, and then they left before we finished the HIM!

Not that we were BBQ'ing in the rain, but sheesh. I had a few bites of pizza but that was all I could take. We did get cookies and Starbucks for the ride back to Philly and that was awesome.

Seriously, you did a nice job on the HIM, especially on that "flat, packed gravel course."

I looked at the swim buoys and start thinking, "Man! How am I ever going to swim that? That looks like a very long distance from the bridge. I have never done it in one go." There's no turning back.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

Immediately I felt attracted by the challenge. I have done plenty of biking this summer and a new motivation, particularly toward the end of the summer, was what I needed.
