Comments:

Well I felt good on the bike, but on the first hill I came out of my big ring and wasn't able to get back into the big ring. Just picked bike up from a tune up so really hurt me on the flat and down hills as I couldn't push the bike past 25 mph without upper gears....
What would you do differently?:

test ride the bike!!!!

again I felt like I really was taking it calmly and controlled. time turned out very good!

Comments:

first race of the season and first hard transition to run, so legs were heavy as expected for the first mile, fought off some cramps in the calfs, settled in nicly though.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

My first duathlon was a success. I had so many fears before the race but none of those fears happened. And when it was all over, I felt I had accomplished something big.

The word enthusiasm comes from Greek enthousiasmos or “inspiration by the presence of a god.” If you are enthusiastic about your sport, I encourage you to honor that inspiration by finding balance.
