Who all is in? Who is camping? Camping spots? Bib numbers?

I am camping in site B21. I think Ryan and Patrick will be setting up camp there as well, unless they wimp out and drive in the morning of. Bib number 975. Swim start at 7:10. Maybe an early get together on Saturday night, if you are camping?

I am pretty sure I am undertrained for this. Maybe a last minute ride on the course will build my confidence a little.

I do still plan on taking up one of your spots! We can commute if interested so reduce parking. Hoping to go either Saturday AM or early PM to get checked in and set up camp. I reserve all rights to wimp out and sleep in the truck if it's too cold or rains. I'm not hard core to sleep in the rain like Mark.

I'm looking at the Lonestar Century (42 mile route) this Sunday since it's right by my house.

We only get two parking spots and Patrick is taking the other one. So, it looks like we are carpooling and camping. I learned alot last year and picked up a cot to go into my tent this year. I didnt sleep well on the ground.

I'm a little sad I'm not joining ya'll this year. Too much moo-lah for an Ironman year this time around.

But rest assured, Glinda the Good Witch will be sending all her good vibes and tail winds your way! Kiss

I am in for camping. Might even bring a tent instead of sleeping in the car. :-) Will arrive mid afternoon on Saturday.

I definitely had an inflatable bed last weekend. But not that it helped with the sleep. The thunderstorms made for a sleepless night. Have a great race everyone!

Did it work better than the inflatable raft you used last year?

I'm in...the race that is...not the camping crew that has dominated the thread.
Bib number 1001 (Palindrome...my OCD side!). Swim start at 7:10. Looks like I'm there with you Jon...if only at the start .

It's my first half. I've done a lot of sprints, and 1 Olys. I did the 5150 last week, and thought...this is cake, I wish it was longer (insert sarcasm)...maybe that was due to the fact we didn't swim.

Excited to finish on the yellow brick road!

I'll be there. Bib #1129 and I'm in the 7:16 swim wave. I'm not much of a camper, so I'll be driving in the morning of the race.

I went 6:20:52 last year, and I was hoping for under 6 this year if we got anything even resembling decent weather.

I was feeling pretty good about my training until I rode the course on Friday. I rode about 6 minutes faster than my time from last year, but I was hoping for 10 minutes+ since I was riding fresh. The real depressing thing is that I felt pretty spent after the ride. I was planning on running a quick couple of miles afterwards (couldn't do much more than that because I was trying to get out of town) and I just said screw it instead and went home.

There's just 4 or 5 places on that bike course that I can't get through without burning matches. My power at FT is around 200W, so I try to keep my HIM power at 150-160. A lot of those hills have me above 250W for a sustained period just to stay upright. I definitely need to focus on hills more next Spring.

So here's to tapering, carb loading and race day adrenaline!

I'm in, won't be camping though. I'm in Jon's AG so I assume we go off at the same time. I will be at a pool party the day before (after bike check of course) so I am just wanting to finish this bad boy. See you all there. Good luck to you racers, if you hang out an extra hour, you may see me.

Yeah Pete, I am sure you are really out of shape. Those 1:30 HMs showed us that. Sandbagger.

Yeah, and he rode 95 miles yesterday, 50 of it due south into that nice headwind. He'll probably lolligag the bike then pass us all on the run! I'll do the opposite, go out too hard on the bike, bonk the run after about 7 miles. No camping for me, I'll probably drive up that morning.

I will not push the bike for fear of a bad run, you are correct. I have had that experience, not fun. I can walk miles in my neighborhood with a beer in hand. I don't need to do it at a race.

I gave up some planned long runs/rides this weekend in favor of family time -- which they deserve. Plus, the rain killed my long run planned for yesterday morning. I think my body needed a couple days rest anyway. Outdoor 50m pool practices started this morning and I got in a straight 2000m swim to start off the workout. Felt pretty darned good and finished strong so I think the 2-days rest helped. Got in a speed workout at the track on Friday evening. Hadn't been on the track in years. Thought I would be a bit sore on Saturday but felt pretty good. Got 6 miles in with a mile warmup, 12x400m (200m sprint, 200m light jog repeats), then some 400 and 800 strides to finish up. Felt like I was back in high school again. :-)

Picked up the tent and inflatable mattress from my brother yesterday, so I am ready to go for the camping. Jon, we could make our spot at B21 the central point for BTers to meet and greet because it is close to the finish line.

With the threat of rain looming for the whole weekend, what will it take them to shorten or cancel this? Will they still allow us to bike in a moderate rain?

Anyone see current water temps? I read on ST 66 I think. I checked two web pages this morning and saw 48 and 50. Either way chilly, I just hope we get to swim!
