  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

got kicked in the goggles early, some leakage later
poor sighting and navigation throughout due to wind/current/chop and difficulty sighting on white buoys
What would you do differently?:

be a bit more aggressive
Transition 1
  • 03m 7s
Comments:

did run it to TA as hard as usual
poor job getting into my shoes

2/22 AG, 66/344 OA
What would you do differently?:

run it faster, need to figure out how to keep my shoe straps from coming apart
Bike
  • 2h 09m 29s
  • 34 miles
  • 15.80 mile/hr
Comments:

rough roads throughout inflicted a beating and the strong headwind for more than half the route finished the beat down
ran out of drink with 6+ miles to go
What would you do differently?:

suck it up Buttercup!
Transition 2
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

caught my foot on my drink bottle during dismount; didn't go down, but my shoe came off the bike. while going back for it I dropped the bike on my right instep and had the other shoe come off the bike. after that, I walked the rest of the way to my rack

7/22
What would you do differently?:

everything!
Run
  • 59m 17s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Garmin was giving pace info but no average pace or distance; course mile markers were poor

tried to keep the pace below 9:45 on the way out and then start picking it up on the way back.
What would you do differently?:

did well on the run but prob could have pushed harder
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

wind and rough roads on the bike; the beat down did not set me up for a good run

Event comments:

awesome venue, well worth the trip and expense

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.

Experts agree, doing a “mock,” triathlon on the course you’re racing can aid you in your training; performance and most of all quell some nervous energy.
