I will be doing my 3rd 70.3 in Augusta in September. I also registered for Ironman Texas in May 2014. Does anyone have any good tips/advice on how to transition from the half to the full? There will be 7 months between the two so it won't exactly fit a training plan schedule. I was thinking about taking 2-4 weeks of off/easy training right after the 70.3 and then jumping into a full program somewhere in the middle of the plan. Anyone ever done this?

Well I haven't done either but many friends don't hit it hard until January for IMTX.

you've got plenty of time to take a solid rest after your HIM and start off fresh with the training for IMTX

Look at some IM plans..which range from 10 to 24 weeks.

Sounds like a good plan. I'll let you know if it works in November.

I'm doing my first IM in November (Florida). I just did a HIM a couple of weeks ago. In the last 2 weeks I've only done a few easy workouts. I start my 23 week program for IMFL on Monday. FWIW, I'm using the plan from Friel's Your Best Triathlon.

take a month off and then pick up on this one?

I've been following this one and others on here too have been using it. It seems to be working pretty well for me. you might be short on weeks but just pick up on the week you are scheduled to be on. I wouldn't worry too much about missing the first weeks since you have a good base right now.

I had almost the exact same situation last year. I did a half last year in October and just did IMTX. . I did the half and then continued "training" after but it was mostly unstructured exercising/working out rather than official training. The plan I followed was 30 week (Fink's Be Iron Fit competative), but I didn't formally start following it until week 7 of the plan since I was so far beyond the Base Phase for that plan already. I am not the type to burn out but something you might need to consider. Sounds to me like you are on the right track, but I'm no expert. Good luck! IMTX was a blast!

It makes no sense to train hard for a year to hone that aerobic system only to have all that training undermined by a few anaerobic bursts on race day. So, how do you go about it?
