Subject: Happy Birthday BT

On 5/27/2003, Beginner Triathlete as we know it was born. This is the date the very first user signed in as a member of our community. 10 years later, over 350,000 people have logged in to our site. I bring this up because 10 years ago, there was very little to be offered to triathletes on the internet. Local clubs and sites to register for races were available, but we did not have an organized voice.

In the very beginning, we had a few threads and the ability to log workouts. We quickly grew as a community. Members like TriMom217 set the standard by opening up her home to traveling Bters to come for dinner for a race in Ma. Others found key races in an area and set them up as regional gatherings. This site has grown in ways I could not even imagine 10 years ago, and I keep coming back.

I have been on this site almost from the beginning. I logged in for the first time on 11-16-03. Since then I have completed a marathon and a 1/2 ironman, not to mention a bunch of olys and sprint distance races. Before BT, I never stayed committed to working out for more than 6 months.

I would like to personally thank Ron, and now his team for helping us find our voice, make new friends and change our lives for the better. I would also love to hear from as many of you as possible on how BT has changed your life.

I love you, Joe.

My member number is a bit higher than yours ... but if I haven't been around that long, at least I've been around a lot ... err ... that came out wrong.

What BT was to you, you made it that way for me too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BT

Thank you Ron

Thank you all the long-time members who made this place what it is from the ground up

Thank you to the newer comers who keep us on our toes.

Thanks for the shout out Joe (EllenG is TriMom217) I haven't done anything triathlon related in what seems like a gazillion years, but I still read some boards and logs. I love to see that BT is still going strong and Ron is doing a great job with the new site. FWIW I now live on the Timberman (NH) course and love to see you guys out there training. But race day, forget it! I'm outta here before I can't leave my own driveway!

I'm going to take the liberty of moving this to Tritalk. Tongue out

Apparently Joe is on the exact date more than I...I was just rounding...  I didn't know for sure exactly.

I actually got some screenshots of BT as it evolved in 2003

And...it wasn't until 2006 at St. Anthony's (great breakers by-the-way on that morning's swim) that I met in person for the first time a few dozen BT'ers.  We met several more amazing members over the years at Moosman, Mussleman, Rev3 Tennesse, Multisportworld expo's and a few others.

It's been a great experience so far.

Ron, if you recall, it was Mooseman that we met at. Thanks again.

Happy Birthday BT.

Gee, Yanti and I have been here almost as long together--we have not gotten any older nor have we "been around" as Yanti would like to think--though she is half way round  the world from us.....
