Event warmup:

Short run
Swim
  • 07m 30s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

Sun was in face and didnt see bouy and 2 of us missed it but got back on track and finished. It was a reverse is why swim was so slow it also had T2 added into the time and the run to the lake
What would you do differently?:

Wear tinted goggles
Transition 1
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Getting on bike foot slipped and couldnt get clipped into the peddles and when I fell seat nose moved down and had to pull up while riding
What would you do differently?:

Wear different glasses, seeing it was a reverse my Costa Del Mar glasses was fogged when I stopped running and couldnt see a damn thing getting on bike
Bike
  • 27m 19s
  • 10 miles
  • 21.86 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Glasses and shoes and getting on bike. Need to rework the sprint transitions for sure.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Both T1 and T2 went well, pretty easy on the reverse I think
Run
  • 20m 6s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

It was a good run course I think nice on a road for first lap then on a wide walking path for second lap
What would you do differently?:

Nothing for run
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

T1 and getting on bike and getting up to speed

Event comments:

Not a fan of sprints and even a worse fan of reverse triathlons. This was my first and last for sure. I have called all sprints off till after IMFL 2013. If that will work out im not sure but gonna try and stay away from them

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

I found a sprint, the Lake Las Vegas Triathlon, that was happening four months down the road and signed myself up; much to the surprise of friends and family.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

"I was wondering if this is a sensible approach? Should I get "better" on short distance and then move to something longer or do what I want if I feel I can do it whatever the time?"
