Pre-race routine:

met up with Tami and Dave.
Event warmup:

20 min. 10 min jog, 6 pickups then 5 min more jogging. Legs never felt "fresh" after yesterdays ride but they were turning over okay.

Comments:

ran pretty well overall. went out at abut 6:20 miles. held that for 2+ then slowly dropped off a bit. I was pushing pretty hard but managed to turn it up and pass the guy who came charging at the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. If i want to beat this time, maybe not have 2 hard training days prior.

ok I am laughing that you call this a big race - after doing NYRR races in central park this was TINY!

Yeah. I guess its relative. I race in CP when I have to but avoid it if possible. Too many people chasing too few resources. I'll take the small races 60 miles North any day...

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?

At 30 to 40 minutes into my run, my foot starts to go numb. If I keep going, the foot goes totally numb.
