Subject: Pain under L shoulder blade
Two weeks ago was doing a ride, nothing special, just cruising, and got a sharp pain/pull under my left shoulder blade. It has lingered now for two weeks. I feel it only when I sit, which unfortunately is every day at work. It doesn't hurt when I stand/walk/bike/swim/run, but as soon as I sit, bang, it is back and it can really get uncomfortable. I tried theraputic massage, but didn't get any relief. I've been reading up and the only thing I can guess is floating rib pain, but that's a total swag. Any thoughts from people who have had similar issues? Thanks for any help.

I've had shoulder problems since the very beginning of tri training. I did see an ortho who took x-rays and said I have a type II acromioin. I'd love to know some stretches to help my flexibility.

I get a very bad shoulder pain (left side only) when on the bike for over 45 minutes. The pain seems to be between my shoulder blades but only on the left side.

Most swimmers who develop shoulder pain do so because of relative rotator cuff and shoulder blade muscle strength deficiencies.

Often I also see an imbalance in the front muscles of the shoulder, such as the pectoralis, and the back muscles, such as the rotator cuff and shoulder blade stabilizers. I would recommend:

Differentiating between the different causes of rotator cuff-related pain is not important initially, because primary treatment for all of them is the same.
