My wife and I have done AF half for 5 years now since kids moved to Dayton. My wife and I walk run with our daughter each year. Did they change the route any this year? Pre-Race parking is usually tricky unless you go early with limited entry.

They have cool B-2 fly overs and parachutes coming down at start line. Here is YouTube of parachutes with US Flags

Saw your post about this being your fifth time. My first run was 2006, but I love the event and return yearly. Once was the full M, and I missed last year altogether. Hope your training goes well.

It's been too hot to train outside in AZ this month and I hate treadmills. I miss training though, I just finished Vineman 70.3 Ironman in wine country near Santa Rosa, CA July 14, 2013. I am finally recovering from 56 mile bike ride in mountains in HIM race. My legs got quite a workout. I plan on keeping up my bike and swim training but not hard workouts while I do my run training for Air Force Half Marathon.

How is the weather in Ohio? Will it be rainy in Sept this year at Wright Patterson AF Base? I heard with Gov't cutbacks there may not be as many fly overs during race

My dad said it has been hot and dry for about 4 weeks. The past 8 years have been beautiful race days with an AM temp of about 52 degrees, sunny and dry, warming up to low 70's by noon. Not surprised if they don't do the fly-over, but I'm hopeful. Ran a long slow 17 mile run today and will begin to taper.

With stroke improvements I find that when I try and swim long I have lost any speed gains that I had because my stroke count just creeps up and up. I also feel like I'm running out of air.

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

After I left the running store, I couldn't stop thinking about the sprint tri and how much of a challenge it would be for me. So instead of joining a gym, I started riding my bike and it felt great.

This program should be used for an athlete whose goal is to run a marathon in the 1:30-2:30 range and has a good running base in the past 8-12 weeks.

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.
