Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 32m 55s
Overall Rank = 422/485
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 19/25
Swim
  • 16m 8s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

"Navigation" issues were other swimmers. Kicked in stomach once, arms repeatedly, kept pausing to swim around people.
BUT...I never paused because it was too much freestyle. :-)
Rained during swim.
What would you do differently?:

no clue. Practice?
Transition 1
  • 03m 50s
Comments:

Shoes had puddles of water in them. Had to last minute change glasses for fogging up.
What would you do differently?:

Not make it rain. Ha ha ha.
Bike
  • 41m 47s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.27 mile/hr
Comments:

Just raining too hard to go fast. I didn't even try.
Pelting rain for 1st 4 miles. Strong headwind mile 6-10 or so.
What would you do differently?:

I needed more practice, but today it wouldn't have mattered. Only a fool goes all-out when the weather's like that.
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
What would you do differently?:

13th out of almost 500! That's AWESOME!
Run
  • 30m 32s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

75 degrees & I was still hot. Poured water on my already wet head at water stops & it helped.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Was a good run. Drier would've been nice...but the lessening of heat was well worth wet shoes.
Post race
Warm down:

Generally stretched, got fluids & food. Changed & went straight to churhc, funny enough.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weather mostly ;-)
I should've prepared on the bike more too.

Event comments:

VERY supportive volunteers. Several unexpected friends too! Was a great time!

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

My first attempt two years ago was not so successful when a deck nail found its way into my foot a week before the race. But I kept plugging away the last couple of years to stay healthy and get back.
