Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: Athena Tri Clothing It's been years since I've purchased tri clothing and I have no idea what to get for my races this summer. Would love to hear what brands and items you ladies love. I'm 5'6" and 195 lbs. I have a longer torso, so I do have problems finding long tops that don't leave me with the exposed muffin top during races. |

Extreme Veteran 541 Virginny | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I have a similar question - Can anyone recommend a tri suit with an inseam longer than 7"? Or tri shirt recommendations would be good, too. Does anyone swim in a tri shirt (no wetsuit)? I've always done just a sport bra, but I'm reconsidering. The one tri shirt I have is Zoot, and I like it, but it seems to drag a lot on the swim. Rebecca |

Expert 1360 | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing longer shorts - I have some peal izumi shorts that go almost to my knees. They are also, I find, a little more relistic with their sizing than some of the other brands. I also have a long body, and I realized last summer, that the trick is no getting a longer shirt - I have hips and the longer the shirt, the more it will ride up. The trick is to 1) have shorts that come up to your waist and 2) have shirts that come down a little past the waist but have a flap in the back to cover your back when you are bent over in aero. I acutally have better luck with my shorter shirts than my longer ones. I love this shirt - http://www.pearlizumi.com/content/pearlizumi/united-states/en/home/... with these shorts (I think) - http://www.pearlizumi.com/content/pearlizumi/united-states/en/home/... |

Veteran 268 Kitchener | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing Love that last top. I'm a total budget tri-er, but I splurged on proper shorts... i'm 5'6" and 200lbs... so I went for Sugoi Men's Piston shorts in a 9" length...they have a decent but not annoying rise for good back coverage and hit just above my knees on the leg http://www.sugoi.com/usa/tri/men/shorts/piston-200-tri-pkt-short-9.... For tops, I have a Walmart house-brand tank that dries about as fast as a bathing suit and comes down to my hips, giving me decent back coverage. And it has a nifty hypnotic pattern below the boob line, effectively camouflaging some of my ample muffin top, which i love too. Plus its 'not mainstream - tri' enough that its easy for my family to spot me coming to cheer! I wear a moving comfort juno bra underneath and swim in the bra + tank without issue. |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing Really like that Pearl Izumi jersey. Comes in lots of great colors!! I've also been checking out this DeSoto one. They recommend it for Athenas since the bust is fitted, but the rest is loose and has a drawstring at the bottom. Not sure how well that would work, but I like the idea! http://www.desotosport.com/product/WCLT |

Member 25 San Diego | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing Hello Rebecca- De Soto Femme (triathlon clothing designed, tested and produced by women in America) makes a trisuit with 9.5-11 inch inseam. We did so because we like the extra coverage and compression to slow fatigue. Check it out here: http://www.desotosport.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=... And please feel free to PM me if you would like to speak one-on-one! Edited by tracydesoto 2013-06-08 3:56 PM |

Member 25 San Diego | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing That's right! The bust is fitted with a built in bra for support but the body is loose for comfort. It's been really popular so far! But feel free to email me personally on other items you'd like to see for Athenas! |

58 | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I bought the DeSoto loose fit tri top in X-large, couldn't even get it over my head. Cut is very narrow. I love their shorts. Would love to buy their tops but they're cut too narrow for my swimmers shoulders. |

Champion 7704 Williamston, Michigan | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing Danskin used to make larger tri clothing check their web site. Also check http://www.teamestrogen.com The sizing from brand to brand for tri clothes is ALL OVER THE PLACE. No consistency. 2XU run TINY, Zoot runs larger, I think Desoto is close to advertised. I love Oomph shorts but I am not sure they didn't go out of business to be honest, K swiss runs a little big and their shorts are LONG...although I am only 5'3" Skins are SUPER long.......below my knee but I have a mens set because they wer enot making a womens tri shorts when I bought them. Look at mens stuf too. Because that whimpy piece of elastic in most tri tops I usually get a male top and wear a sports bra under |

Member 29 | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing Originally posted by pilot_e Tracy, does DeSoto ship to Canada? I bought my DeSoto Forza tri suit in Calgary, Ab at the Tri It Shop. I just cut out the silly little bra that was in it and wear my sports bra . It has been a great suit with or with out wetsuit. |

Master 2235 Pacific Northwest | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I bought a Zoot kit yesterday (separates) for a triathlon today and they worked great...I didn't test them before the race so I had visions of my midsection falling out or the shorts looking terrible. They are really comfy and the top is very long and didn't ride up at all. I'm 5'9 with very, very ample bosom (to put it one way). This is the top and the bottoms. I wore a bra with it, but also appreciated the shelf bra for additional support. The shorts were nice because they have a big, flat waistband and a drawstring. I'll definitely wear the shorts for running on their own. And hey, I got second in my AG! Ya! |

They have some really cute stuff especially for biking. Not sure why all these tri companies make XL's that wouldn't fit a 10 year old girl.... |

Veteran 264 Worcester, MA | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I'm not tiny (5' 8", long torso, size 16) and I've had good luck with zoot bottoms with an 8" inseam. I'm now completely in love though with my new pearl izumi tri shorts/top. Pearl Izumi tops tend to run a little longer from what I've seen. OTOH, I tried on a Primal bike jersey that literally only came to my belly button. It was, um, not a good look for me. |

Veteran 157 Wilson, NC (East of Raleigh, NC) | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing This will be my 3rd year competing at the sprint level and I have no desire as an Athena to wear a tri suit. It does NOTHING for the figure and I think you will be happy with less exposure finding a good sports bra and a longer tri top. If I swim with a wetsuit - I usually wear my tri shorts and a sports bra, and add a shirt at transition. Longer tri tops I highly reccommend SLS3 they also carry a longer inseam short. (www.slstri.com) If you are set on a Tri suit - try the Danskin line - they are usually mostly black with some color and have a longer inseam. *** The profile photo is a SLS3 Tri top and LG Pro shorts. Veteran 157 Wilson, NC (East of Raleigh, NC) | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I liked your Pearl Izumi shirt you posted. If anyone is looking I found it at swimoutlet.com They were one of the few people that showed the new shirt. I think it might be a 2013 design because the back is a little different on a couple of them. Great colors though! |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I tried on the PI Elite and Select tri jerseys and shorts. They are great! I fit in an XL, so I went with the Elite shorts and jersey for the cooling fabric and sun projection. Looking forward to my races more now that I have clothing that fits. |

225 | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I've had good luck with the zoot stuff I've found on sale. I prefer the one piece for races because I know it can't ride up. I also have a bigger chest for my size, so the tops tend to be lose around my waist and I don't like feeling it move around when I swim. I also have a zoot tri top and shorts for training. |

21 | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing I FINALLY found something that would work... someone had suggested Danskin. They carry a XXL in the tri shorts and tops. Sure enough I bought them and so far they are working for me. I will wear them for my first tri race next weekend. The top is long enough to cover my long torso and doesn't seem to ride up. I bought the XXl and the XL in the shorts and while the XXL is a little too big, the XL fits almost too snug for me. Im in between. Still deciding on which ones to keep... I found them onsale at Amazon for under $25 for each piece... a winner for someone just getting started! |

Elite 2729 Puyallup, WA | Subject: RE: Athena Tri Clothing Getting back into the exercise thing! Had to take 2013 off due to pregnancy...silly baby growing in my tummy!! My goal this season is to do an Oly tri. I've done 5 tri's and all Sprint or shorter. I "ran" a bit today. (I feel REALLY fast...but the woman with the walker may or may not have passed me on my "sprints". :-P) I realized today that I was having 2 problems. 1) I was getting a serious wedgie and 2) I was tired of feeling my now stretched/loose stomach bounce. Anyone found anything (underwear or shorts) that help with this problem?? I also wanted to add that I found a bike skort that fit me! I am not a small girl (width wise) and am only 5'3" Finding bike shorts is EXTREMELY difficult! A lot of my weight is in my thighs and I really like these. They have a v-shaped cut at the waist and both the waist band and leg bands are the thicker spandex band vs. the grippy band. (You can see what I'm talking about if you see the shorts, it's quite obvious!) I fit in the XXL my measurements are like 40ish waist, bigger around the hips (46ish??). (I don't like admitting it, but it might help with sizing) http://store.sheilamoon.com/index.php (There website says they're down, but I found some things on clearance at swimoutlet) X Edited by lkct01234 2014-01-17 3:55 PM |
