I am looking to participate in a 70.3 next year only real criteria is flat bike course (or more flats than hills...haha) and within the US. So Im wondering what are some good recommendations and why. I am considering Eagleman, I did chesapeakeman as my first IM distance race in 2011. so I know the course, its the heat that scares me...hahaha. so what ya got?

To me, you can't get more flat and windy than Galveston....

Bone Island Tri HIM in January. Warm, very flat, and windy. Water is warm too. Awesome place if you have never been. There is also a full IM distance. Quite of few BT'rs came down for one or the other in January. It was a tough, warm and windy day, but most survived

Here's the link for next years Tri: http://www.boneislandtri.com/

Beach to battleship in Wilmington, NC is flat and was super windy the year I did it. It is end of October or early November. Awesome race!

NOLA is pretty flat and windy and since they moved the swim into a protected area I don't think they'll be canceling it anymore.

HITS Naples (Florida), my wife did it last year and I don't think her Garmin recorded more than 30ft. over the entire 56 miles... pancake flat, nice roads and extremely well organized. Quite inexpensive to boot.

Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.

After you have established the Ironman goal, the most important factor outside of the training is which race to choose? What is your best sort of course, hilly, rolling, flat?
