Subject: Removing calluses
I thought this would be a common question on here, but the forum search isn’t pulling anything back for me, so here goes: In 10+ years of running, I’ve never had major problems with calluses on my feet, but over the past couple months, I’ve developed a pretty large callus on the outside of my big toe. It’s getting to the point where it’s bothering me in normal shoes, so it’s time for it to go! I don’t think I want to remove it completely, since they are supposed to protect your feet somewhat.

So tell me, BT, what’s the best method you’ve found to get rid of calluses? Hot water with Epsom salt or cider vinegar? Pumice stone or something else? Any tips are appreciated!

I recently had a bad plantar wart on my toe and a callus had built up around it. I used Dr. Scholl's® Corn Removers. It took 2 weeks to get the wart totally removed but the callus came off within 4-6 days. I just put the medicated disc and pad on the callus and removed it 2 days later (caution, your skin will turn white). Then, while in the shower I used a pumice stone to file away the dead skin. I actually had to use clippers to cut the wart out, but the callus part just came off with the pumice stone. I repeated this until it was all gone. I never stopped working out and I even completed an Olympic distance tri soon after this process was over and I never had any pain. Good luck!

For a Father's day gift, my wife bought me pedicure because my feet "needed" some care. Damn if that lady didn't bust out the Dremel tool with a sander. Buffed the calluses. They were still there but a little smoother.

i pumice every day in the shower... wears them down when they get bigger and I've been negligent, and otherwise keeps everything at bay nicely when I am on top of maintenance.

I get bad calluses. Soak in water, and use a small dremel tool to sand them down. Nothing like having a power tool in the bathroom.
