I just found a 5,10k on sat 8:30 I think it's on the beach. It's at mile marker 12. Or beach access #2 in onslow county. Only $10! My family is in town and i convinced a few of them to do the 10k. I should ride the 30 miles from my house first but I don't think that will happen. Just FYI. They have a surf comp and bands, beach yoga etc.... I did the race last year. Definitely a low key, no chip timing, not timed well with the tide ( was incoming) and HOT. But was fun to spend the day hanging out.
Yep, I ran into traffic for this on my way back down from North Topsail. They were STOPPING traffic right at the turnoff from 210 into the parking lot across from Sunset Slushes/MM12. Not that I was moving that quickly, but I had to clip out and stop to negotiate the traffic.

It's amazing how much energy the wind and humidity will suck out of you riding at the beach. I'm still recovering today from some good training rides/runs Wednesday through Saturday.

Why do triathletes need a recovery week and why do we feel so bad during it?

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

I own both a road bike and a tri bike. I am wondering which bike I should be riding during off season training, or does it matter?

Riding Zen means nothing more than being keenly aware of your surroundings and in control of your emotional state at all times. It also means riding safe and riding smart.
