I get a little of that but not nearly as bad as you. My skin does break out on my back though exactly where the strap is.  Just part of the game I guess since I wear one 5 days a week.  I had issues with my arm running against the sand paper like strap and causing rub issues there.  I found good ol' vaseline to work the best for me.  Nothing thick, just a tiny thin layer and I'm good.  I haven't needed to do this for my chest for months though.  Think my skin just toughened up from the abuse.  I tend to wear mine super tight to help make sure it does not move at all during my workouts.  I have mine about as small it will go.  Feels a little tight but I've done 6+ hours wearing it like that before and I felt just fine.

All HRM straps do this to an extent.

Things that help:

1. Keep it cinched down tighter.
2. Aquaphor

Things that do not help:

1. Big b@@bs.

I get same thing. I use Sport Slick on that area, just not on the smooth contact areas on the outside of the transmitter, and no more problems.

One piece of athletic tape on the back, and a bit of body glide on your skin every use, and it will stop.

Me too but I put the tape on me. Mine looks just like the pic but it's actually 3 different racing stripes! I now put a small piece of KT tape on my body and no issues. Does not hurt to take off at all and nothing gummy/sticky on my monitor.

That's what happened with me as well(salt build up) Washed strap, and treated with neosoprene.

I have gotten back from running with blood dripping from my Garmin strap. The strap also would stop working properly when it got saturated with sweat. I took the advice from another post and bought the Polar strap by itself without the Polar monitor. The Garmin monitor plugs into the Polar strap perfectly. Since i did this, I've had no issues with messed up heart rates or chaffing. The link below has the details.
