Precipitation
Total Time = 58m 15s
Overall Rank = 36/490
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 8/41
Pre-race routine:

Wake up at 0500 ate Banana, Greek Yogurt, Bagel with Peanut Butter. I think this is the breakfast for me.
Event warmup:

Not much of a warm up, jumping around a little to keep warm. Quick jaunt through the transition area to drop off my car key before they closed transition.
Run
  • 02m 12s
  • 0.3 miles
  • 06m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Just a quick run to spread everyone out for the bike start.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster, figured I would pace myself and then everyone passed me
Transition 1
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

I don't have my shoes clipped in so my mount is a little slow, but definitely wasn't going to try that on wet roads.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, note more closely where my bike is racked since there were no markings
Bike
  • 28m 22s
  • 10 miles
  • 21.08 mile/hr
Comments:

Took all corners much slower than I normally would have due to the wet road conditions and wind. Went out much easier than I needed to, was planning a long ride later, but then got passed by someone in my age group and picked it up for the second half.
What would you do differently?:

Go out stronger to begin, it's a race! Prep my bike properly, I did not wear my Aero Helmet. I figured it would be too wet and the visor would get in the way, but I could have taken that off. I had a bunch of extra water bottle holders on my bike in prep for the 4 hour bike that was planned later.
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

I got lost in transition. It was open rack and there were no numbers on the racks. Got a little turned around and couldn't find my stuff.
What would you do differently?:

Make a better note of my bike location
Run
  • 25m 14s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 07m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run overall. No real issues, the weather was good by this point and starting to get warm.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, maybe start a little harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Some walking then we went for a 45min spin when we got home. Then we cleaned our bikes and got a nice sunburn.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not pushing hard enough on the bike and not using all my aero gear.

Event comments:

Good race, would have preferred bagels and oranges to pizza. Pizza was good, but would have rather had something a little more healthy.

At mile ten I heard a noise like I had gotten paper in my spokes or something. I looked but saw nothing but a few seconds later my rear tire blows out.

Are these races too close together to give me any sort of recovery? Will I be spent and unhappy racing back to back weekends and then again two weeks after that?

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

Some would say there are easier ways to get in shape, and they are probably right. My first worry was being able to squeeze into a wetsuit by race day.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.
