Anyone watched the video they posted on Facebook? I have to say as a faster swimmer I am now scared! I like the age group starts and don't like the idea of jostling for position for 1.2 miles. ( you are supposed to self seed based on your perceived speed.). Please tell me I am not going to get punched and kicked for the entire swim. I am feeling really glad I didn't enter the sprint this year.

Since this is getting a lot of views I'll add the video:

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the change.

I can see why they are changing it and honestly it does not bother me much as we really have no say in the matter.

I can see positive and negatives to the change and I think it will be more negative for the 70.3 and Olympic since it will basically be brand new and they will be working out the kinks. I feel that it will be positive in getting athletes onto the course faster allowing it to not be as hot on the run however, it will also make the bike more crowded and also more issues in he water as you mentioned.

Ideally if people seed correctly the swim should be rather smooth and allow some nice drafting however anyone who has done a self seeded race knows there are many many individuals who FAIL at seeding correctly.

I received an email last night that they are changing the bike course from the 17.2 miles to 15 miles. Looks like just after you turn onto Hwy 119 they will be routing traffic into the resevoir rather than going down 119 to Jay.

Forget the swim start process--will there even be a swim??

The swim beaches at Boulder Res are closed.  The race website doesn't say anything, but this should make it interesting.

It usually happens 3 or 4 times a summer. Usually it's cleared in 3 days or so. I hope it is this time!

I had not really thought of it from that perspective. When I originally read about it, it sound like a great idea and would allow everyone the opportunity to get a good draft in. I'm not doing that race this year but will be interested to hear everone's feedback. Good luck!
