Nothing serious in this one.
I was just wondering what kind of race number sunburn you have experienced. I usually try not to put on too much lotion, as it wipes off the numbers, or smudges them onto my kit.
However, in a couple of races, I have managed to burn around the numbers in a spectaular fashion.

I am currently "wearing" my race number on my left arm from IM San Juan, from March.

As an added benefit, I also have my M dot temporary tattoo sunburned in as well.

A few years ago, I had my race number from Hawaii 70.3 burned into my arm. It lasted for weeks.

I do just the opposite. Sunscreen lotion up so the numbers can come off better.

Had the same thing happen to me a couple years back. I had 565 burned onto my arm for the rest of the summer. Now I always put sunblock on prior to getting marked.

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.
