I'm in for the sprint. It will be my third time racing this event.

Early weather forecast says high of 77 and showers.

Anyone else signed up?

I'm in for the Sprint as well.

Kinda concerned on the transition layout. I like when T1 and T2 are in the same place.

We'll see what happens.

Good luck!

I'm doing the olympic. I like being on Belle Isle and it is a good race to bring the kids to (thanks to 3D for the inflatables).

The 2 transition areas are not ideal but not terrible...I always struggle to find my spot in the second transition area.

That wind was tough. The bike course was pretty demoralizing every time I made the turn at the back end of the island.

Had a great swim, ok bike considering the wind, and cut 4 minutes off my run from last year.

Yeah, I improved my times from last year on the swim (honestly I was surprised to see this, considering the waves) and the run, but I was a tad slower on the bike. Have you found your transition times anywhere?

The swim was brutal, it didnt look so bad on the shore, but once you got out into the current, I felt like I was in lake michigan or something. Thats what you get when the wind is the opposite direction from the current.

The bike is what I expected. And my run was good enough. I finished in 2:09:31 in the Olympic.

The timing is somewhat screwed up... they have me listed as Clydesdale (which I am not), but in reality I finished 2nd in my AG.

The transition splits are rolled into your Bike Time (T1) and Run Time (T2) from what I can tell. To me, this is new and annoying because it is hard to get a good comparison to how you did (slow or fast in transitions compared to everyone else).

Still love the race because it is an all out hammerfest.

After you have established the Ironman goal, the most important factor outside of the training is which race to choose? What is your best sort of course, hilly, rolling, flat?
