Comments:

Wanted to go 7:30, but just wanted to go too fast. I felt I was holding back still, but probably 30 seconds per mile too fast.
What would you do differently?:

Slow it down even more.

Comments:

Put bike shoes on and ran bike out short transition area. 27th out of 92 so was happy.

Comments:

Ran first leg too hard and had a hard time relaxing on the bike.
Transition 2

Comments:

Had the 14th fastest T2 so everything went quickly.
What would you do differently?:

nada

  • 3 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs just wouldn't move quickly. Felt for the first time in years like just walking. Kept going, tried to keep pace with faster runners as I was passed, but just didn't have it in me.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

This past spring I realized a few of us were heading in the wrong direction physically. We were getting together for poker games and kids’ birthdays, but that was it.

I went down to the beach the day before to scout out the course, and it was glorious...the sun was out, the sea was as smooth as glass, and only a hint of a breeze was blowing. “Perfect,” I thought.

As a triathlete, there is one acronym that you just can’t fathom ever having next to your name in a race report – DNF: DID NOT FINISH.
