Subject: St. George 70.3 2014, where to stay??
Hey all,

I just registered for St. George. Where is the best location to stay while out there. Is it better to find a hotel close to Sand Hollow or should I pick a location in downtown.

I will be traveling with my wife and two children, so less hassle the better for them considering the 2 seperate trans locations.

Whats ur experince with having spectators at the swim then trying to make it back for T2 and the finish, ie road closures, etc?

Thanks for any recommendations.

Cheers,

Corey

There are no hotels near Sand Hollow and they close the road out of there until late in the morning, meaning your family won't be able to get back downtown until close to noon.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and it was fine - a few minutes from downtown then I just took the bus out to Sand Hollow race morning. The race course is not a very support friendly course so you're family will likely be hanging around T2 all day. Awesome course -- you'll love it. I loved the course and the people were awesome.

I stayed at the LaQuinta and was really happy with it. Super quiet and they allow pets for no charge(I travel with my blind, 17 year old cat).

They also have a nice pool and hot tub. Overall very clean. I would definitly stay there again.

Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
