Those of you who have done this event: Where did you stay? And, any advice on lodging..I am on the brink of committing to this event next year.

There are dozens of places to stay it really just depends on how much you want to spend. The majority of the hotels are decent unless you stay at San Luis or Galvez. If you are going with a crowd, rent a cabin for a few days on the beach or if you are alone just get a hotel.

I'm doing the 70.3 next year, also doing the 5150 in September. We use vrbo.com or homeaway.com and just rent a beach house or condo. It's the off season, so they won't be expensive, and you can find a ton of options within 15 minutes of the race. We're in a place that sleeps 8 and it's cheaper than a room at Moody Gardens.

Stayed at Comfort Inn on Seawall and there's a LaQuinta and Holiday Inn in the same area. Was convenient for Saturday, but coming from that direction it felt like a long walk to transition from the parking lot after a real short drive. I reserved my hotel late and wound up paying close to the price of a Moody Gardens room, so this year I'm just going to stay at Moody Gardens. I will be going with significant other, and I think that will also make for a better experience for her as well.

We've stayed at the Sheraton Four Points and the Holiday Inn Sunspree, both on the seawall. Both are fine. Holiday inn has a better pool and a restaurant; Sheraton is less expensive.

If you're there on Sunday, go to the Galvez for brunch.

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
