I've signed up. Really looking forward to it. My first triathlon (try-a-tri) was at the same place with the Women's Triathlon Group in 2005. Should be lots of fun.

Hi there!

I'm doing Iron Girl in Grimsby. It's my very first triathlon and I'm very nervous and excited at the same time.

Training has been a lot of work and a bit frustrating at times but I'll be there on August 11th!

Nervous and excited - a good combination. Hang in there with the training. Not too much longer. If you don't take things too seriously, you will really enjoy it. A fun course.

I just wanted to throw this out there. I did the Niagara Sprint Triathlon the other weekend.

I had a scrap on my shin from baseball on Saturday night, and it got infected from the swim portion of the race. It had rained hard the previous night and the treatment plant is practically next door to the race venue, my wife had noticed the one sign stating the higher levels of bacteria in the water, only after the race.

I don't want to freak people out, but it was a fairly bad infection and I am still fighting it at this time (which is killing my training for Guelph II). Swimming this one is at your own risk, no mention of the higher then normal level of bacteria was mentioned on race day.

Near to same day measurments of water quality here:

e-coli can be high when rain run off overloads the local sewers. But it shifts quickly due to the size of the lake.

Have a goal when you get into the water. If your purpose is distance, then set your pace for endurance. If your objective is speed, then incorporate drills.

My first reaction to wearing a skirt while running was, “are you crazy?” I am no girly girl. I then tried one of the newest skirts from Nicole DeBoom’s TRIKS line and I can tell you I’m hooked.

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.
