Subject: When it hits close to home Yesterday morning I lost a friend, one I've known for 40 years. It's hard enough to lose someone, but when it unexpected and senseless it shocks the system. My friend got up yesterday like any other day and decided that because it was to be a beautiful day that he would ride his bicycle into work. Less than a mile into his ride a 22 year old drunk slammed into him and like a coward took off. Not that it would have made a difference as Tim died instantly. Now, a wife grieves, two sons grieve, friends grieve. Tim was a good man; he loved his family, his friends and his God. Tim made a difference in this world and I for one will miss him. For those of us who are believers, we have the comfort of knowing that Tim is with his Lord and while we would certainly not want to call him back from that, things won't be the same here without him. |
