Team Magic
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 09m 29s
Overall Rank = 56/298
Age Group = 25-29 Male
Age Group Rank = 8/20
Event warmup:

We had to walk almost a mile from transition to the swim start. I figured that was warmup enough.
Swim
  • 05m 49s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

Not really sure how to put this in here, but there were three transitions. The race order was swim 400 yds, run 1 mile, bike, then run 2 miles. The first transition was running out of the water, finding my shoes, putting them on (no socks), and taking off for first run. My time for T1 was :41. Then after the run we enntered T2, which was the run to bike transition, which consisted of taking off the running shoes, putting on my cycling shoes, putting on my helmet, and then running with the bike to the mount line. T2 time was :48.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. These were unusual transitions, and I think I handled them pretty well.
Bike
  • 37m 5s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.14 mile/hr
Comments:

I tried getting into fake aero position on some of the longer flat sections. (I put my elbows on the bars to get more aero, without having aero bars.) It felt faster, and I was pretty comfortable with it, so it's probably time to put bars on my bike.

Also, I forgot to bring my water bottle to the race. I tried putting a regular plastic water bottle in the cage, but it fell out in the first 200 feet of the race, so I didn't have any water at all. Oops. Probably didn't affect my bike performance, but I felt it on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on my hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

This was just a regular transition. I'm definitely getting better, but I can still improve some.
What would you do differently?:

Just a bit more general efficiency. Nothing specific.
Run
  • 24m 17s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my combined time for both runs. The first run I did in 7:23, which was good. The second run was 16:54 (8:27 pace), not so good.

Had to walk in the second run, even though I know I should've been able to run the whole thing. I can blame it on not having water on my bike leg, but I still should be able to maintain a better pace for just 2 miles. Oh, well... more practice I guess.
What would you do differently?:

Not walk.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.
